Tottenham finally have a league win, and the Champions League is back on Wednesday morning.
Spurs are off the mark
Tottenham’s long wait for a Premier League win ended at home with a 3-1 win over Coventry on Monday night (UK time). James Maddison opened the scoring on 14 minutes, but Jack Rudoni equalised early in the second half. Omar Marmoush scored his first goal for the club on 58 minutes, and substitute Ben Davies sealed it in the sixth minute of stoppage time. Roberto De Zerbi’s side are now 16th, level on six points with Coventry. Spurs fans can celebrate with the Tottenham Hotspur FC Black IP Leather Bracelet, on sale for $64.60 (was $68): https://footballheaven.com.au/jewellery-amp-watches/bracelets-amp-charms/tottenham-hotspur-fc-black-ip-leather-bracelet
Kulusevski is back
The best moment of the night came late in the match, when Dejan Kulusevski came off the bench for his first appearance in 526 days. However, Spurs had injury worries too: Andy Robertson and Tosin Adarabioyo both went off injured.
City lose Semenyo but Haaland is fit
Manchester City have confirmed that Antoine Semenyo will miss about eight weeks with a knee injury he picked up against Ipswich. That means he probably won’t be back until the end of the year. Enzo Maresca said the club had managed the forward’s workload properly. The good news for City is that Erling Haaland is available for Wednesday’s Champions League match against AEK Athens (6am AEDT). Champions League returns on Wednesday morning
Matchday 3 starts with Fenerbahçe v Slavia Prague and Sabah v Borussia Dortmund at 3:45am AEDT Wednesday. A big group of matches follows at 6am, including PSG v Barcelona, Liverpool v Villarreal, Napoli v Bodø/Glimt, Stuttgart v Atlético Madrid, Porto v PSV and Roma v Slovan Bratislava. If you have the coffee ready, it’s worth getting up early.
Chancellor to bow out
Wallaroos captain Emily Chancellor, 35, has announced she will retire from international rugby after Friday night’s Test against Scotland at Canberra Stadium. She made her Test debut against New Zealand in 2018 and was named player of the match that day. She became the Wallaroos’ 19th captain in 2025.
